- Re-start
- Posted by Kmac on June 18th, 2008
I have a laptop with WinXp home edition as OS.
When I don't use it it gets closed (hibernates), then I open it up and log
back on when I want to use it. Could be several times a day, maybe more. XP
is very stable, rarely crashes and I use it like this for days.
My question is - should I do a re-start from time to time? How often.
And is there any reason to shut it down at the end of the day?
Thanks,
K

I don't know about anyone else, but I have four computers that stay on
24/7. They are all WinXP Pro and one is a laptop. The laptop I put to
sleep every night, not shut it down. According to the networking icon
in the notification area of one of my desktops, XP has been up and
running for 76 days with no problems.
Pretty much the only time any of them get restarted is when an update
requires it OR when something "acts funny".
