I am having problems getting my dimension 8400mc to restart from windows XP.
I can't shutdown the computer and it shuts down with no problem then I have
to restart by pushing the power button and it starts up normally. When I
chose restart from the shutdown menu, the computer shuts down and powers up.
After it shows the bios start up screen the screen goes blank and sometimes
a cursor is displayed at the top left corner. Then the computer locks up and
my only choice is to unplug it for awhile and plug it back in. I tried some
of the troubleshooting steps listed on Microsoft's website, but most of the
troubleshooting steps search for device problems. This problem seems to
occur before windows starts loading devices. Dose anyone have any
suggestions?
