Did your computer come with a set of recovery CDs or a recovery partition on the hard disk?

Hi Ted,
I have the same question. My HP laptop is just a few months old and has
picked up the linker virus. I have found no way to get rid of it and I have
already backed up the few files I needed. I tried using the recovery disc
supplied by HP and the option I used was "repair the OS". This was very time
consuming and it returned the PC to the exact same condition.
I'm using Authentium Command antivirus and this failed to stop the virus, so
I'm also looking for better protection. I renewed my Spy Sweeper after the
linker invaded my PC, so I have that also. However, Spy Sweeper will not
remove linker and the online free virus scans will not work. I don't know if
the linker is responsible for this or if Command antivirus is rejecting these
free scans (eg., trend micro)
It seems like a good time to chuck the whole mess and start over.

Do not use the "repair" option. What are the other options listed (install,
re-install??)
