- S.M.A.R.T?
- Posted by Rob on March 21st, 2006
Hi, I need a little help here...
I'm trying to figure out how to activate S.M.A.R.T. on XP - When I used Me I
just copied a file into a folder which activated it, but I can't remember the
file/folder to do it on XP. I've read that on XP S.M.A.R.T. can be activated
through BIOS, but I can't figure out how to do that either since XP is
integrated into my system and I have no Startup disk to boot from.
So, any suggestions how I can activate S.M.A.R.T?

To get into BIOS, you don't use a start-up diskette.. you have to press DEL
or F1 as the system starts up.. there is often a clue on the first screen
seen when you power up..
You then have to look through the various BIOS sections.. generally found in
'advanced chipset' or similar..
If you download Speedfan 4.28 from here.. http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php
, this has a SMART function which enables you to check out drive fitness and
performance..
