I've recently been messing around on my computer to set up its network
capabilities; I installed the XP networking software from the XP disk. Prior
to all of this, my scheduled tasks worked fine and came on when they were
supposed to. Now, 2 of the 3 tasks don't work. Norton Antivirus and Norton
One Button Checkup don't work whereas Norton NetDetect does work. I have no
idea why they stopped working all of a sudden. I'm wondering if it has
anything to do with the networking software that I've been playing around
with. I don't believe it's a problem with Norton's software because one of
the 3 Norton tasks work. I am running an XP-SP2 system. Any help??

Just now, I set the tasks to come on one minute from now. They would not
come on, nor was anything noted in the task log. There was no failure notice
or anything like that in the log. I do not have any parameters set up in
them where they must wait for the computer to be idle for a specified time or
anything like that. The "last result" column says 0 x 0 for both of them.
They are set up to come regardless of what the user is doing, so they should
have come on right now while I was messing with them. I know the file path
is right in them because when I copy and paste the file path in the Windows
"Run" command prompt, they work. Any input?

0x0 means the task completed. It may mean a problem with the application
you're trying to start. You might try scheduling a batch something like

echo %date% %time% Start of task > c:\sched.log

Then look in the log to see what was written.

I think I got the scheduled tasks to work, but not in the manner I want them
to. For whatever reason, I had to set up a password on my user account and
then set up the scheduled tasks to use that same password. The scheduled
tasks then worked. Why is that? I don't want my user account to have a
password on it. How do I disable this?

You can't. Create a dedicated account for your Scheduled Tasks

Thanks for your help. I suppose I will have to create another account or
take Ted's "to-the-point" advice; I'll probably choose the latter!! I'll
password protect the accounts on the computer.
