Script to run after hours
Posted by David Sherman on February 24th, 2006

I want to schedule certain tasks after hours.

When I close down for the day, I want to leave the screen at the
Windows XP Pro login screen, ie where I have to press Ctrl-Alt-Del to
login.

1. I want the task to start at 10:00 pm. (automaically login with
administrator user name and pasword). Since I log on to a domain, I
want to log on to this machine and not to domain.)

The tasks that I want to do are:
a. Defrag the hard drive
b: Run Windows update- it is scheduled to run daily at 3:00am
c. Empty the my user name temporary files

2. When the tasks are done, I won't to reboot the machine
automatically.

Is this possible?

I have tried to google this approach but haven't gotten any ideas on
how to (1) logon and (2) the log off.

I can set Windows Update to run at a certain time.

I can set defrag to at a cerain time.

I can run disk cleanup at a certain time.

thanks for any ideas.
