- Slow to boot
- Posted by wpittges on November 24th, 2007
I had a virus (after booting, CPU would peg immediately and memory would
slowly be taken up) and did get rid of it using McAfee. However, now when
booting, it takes 15-20 minutes for the computer to finish so I can do
anything (browse, start programs, etc.) I've cleared cashe, temp files and
the like. I'm wondering if I have to reload XP to fix this or whether
there's something else that can be done. McAfee says it's clean, but it
should take just a minute or two to boot. Any ideas?
