I ran sfc yesterday and put my original winxpoem(sp1) CD in when prompted. I
am running winxpoem (sp2, installed from the sp2 update CD). I also have a
slipstreamed CD where I merged sp2 with winxp(sp1) and made it bootable. I
prefer to install xp from the original (sp1) CD and then add the sp2 update
so I can uninstall it if needed.

My question is, when prompted by sfc to insert my windows CD should I put
the windows slipstream CD in with sp2, the original winxp(sp1) CD or the sp2
update CD?

I'm asking this because shortly after running sfc I got a BSOD that didnt
name any cause and the error codes were all 0's (stop (0x000000000,
0x00000000 etc...) I had to restore my computer to an earlier time.
While going through the event log I saw where sfc had "repaired" several
files....

"Windows File Protection scan found that the system file
c:\windows\system32\drivers\nv4_mini.sys has a bad signature. This file was
restored to the original version to maintain system stability. The file
version of the system file is 6.14.10.5673"

Use the same CD used to originally install Windows XP.
In the situation you describe, you have no use for the slipstreamed SP-2 CD.

Why would you need to uninstall SP-2?
The slipstreamed CD reduces the chance of problems during installation and
you are better off using that when you need to reinstall Windows XP.

Thanks for the reply. I did use the slipstream CD for one installation and
was plagued with a slightly corrupted registry that was messing up security
permissions. I later found in the setuperr.log that a critical error had
occured during setup. So, naturally I used the original CD this time and
there was nothing in the setuperr.log. It could have been a freak occurance.
I may try making another slipstream CD at some point.
