- system properties on my computer

i cannot access system properties from "my computer" i right click and select
properties and nothing happens.

See if either of these open System Properties for ypu.
Win key + Pause key
Start | Run | Type: sysdm.cpl | Click OK

no. it didn't work. i wounder if somthing changed in my reg. i don't like to
go there because i don't know that much about it. but it seems like somthing

Do you get any error messages?

What happens if you logon as a new user? (create a new account in 'User
Accounts').

well i made a new login user with admin authority and tried it but still the
same problem. i also noticed that when i go to the control panel and switch
to classic view my system icon is missing but IT is there on my original
login account. should i put in my xp disc that came with my computer and have
it repair my computer? it is service pack one and i have upgraded to service
pack 2. also if i do repair this way will anything happen as far as settings
or my other programs ect. thanks for the help guys

In order to start a repair install you'll probably need to create an
integrated install folder and run setup from there.

A repair install may not even work. This is more than likely the work of
some malware.

so what should i do. i have a good firewall and a good antivirus and a
spyware program. i keep all my windows up to date and regularly scan my comp.
the only thing that comes up is cookies and mru's . by the way thanks for
working with me on this issue.
