my touch pad is not functioning properly...will not drag or highlight... I
have to use right and left or up and down buttons. Is there a way to correct

Assuming you run WIN XP, first check settings Control Panel\mouse setting.
If they're OK, uninstall/reinstall touchpad from Control Panel\System\Device
Manager\Hardware. Also look for an updated driver.

And your fingers are clean/dry aren't they?
