- update.exe problem
- Posted by L. on December 27th, 2007
reinstalled winxp and while doing all the updates(40+) keep geting one of
two error msg.
Haven't d/l SP2 yet.
1. update.exe- application error
The instruction at "ox77f585c0" reference memory at "0x0000000".
The memory could not be "written".
2. Windows Service Pack Setup has encountered a problem and has to restart.
When I click ok on either of these the install keeps going but the one
update that was "working" fails.
When it got up to 22 out of 40 it froze up.
Is there a problem with my system that I should address or just keep going?
thanks,

When this happens, there should be an event registered in the event logs, can
you please copy and paste the exact event. Also put the exact error message
in your post.
