When I plug into my USB port, I get an icon that says 'safely remove
hardware.' My computer is not reading anything that I plug into the port. I
followed troubleshooting and everything seems to be working properly. Can
someone help please?....

What are you connecting to the port?

sandisk-it reads my memory card. it says i just need to plug it in, which is
exactly how i did it before before my computer crashed.
also my printer and the av adapter for my video camera, neither of them are
being detected. i have tried all 3 ports that are on my laptop.

Sounds like you need to reinstall the motherboard chipset utility drivers.
If it's a notebook computer, look for them at the website of your notebook
manufacturer, if it's a desktop, look at the motherboard manufacturer's
website.
