Weird problem with service pack 2 and udma-6 (udma 133)
Posted by pavlos17@yahoo.com on March 27th, 2006

Hello to everyone. My problem is that I recently upgraded my system, I now
have a p4 3.2 and the motherboard is asrock 775 dual pt880 pro. The
motherboard supports udma 133. My hard disk is a 40gb maxtor which has
maximum udma 133. The question is that I have installed the latest via
hyperion drivers and when i go into windows xp in device manager it says at
primary channel that my hard disk works at udma 6. Ok for the time being but
when I play a game and finish playing i go to device manager and it says udma
5. Without a reboot without anything. What is the matter? Can't my hard drive
work at udma 6? Please if anyone knows of a way? I already tried to uninstall
primary channel and let windows reboot. At first it works it says udma 6 but
then it says udma 5? Is there a tool to identify at which speed operates the
hard disk? Thanks in advance.

Try setting the speed in the BIOS,it may be set to auto detect rather than
custom.
