Windows Calculator opens without warning
Posted by chadlee on October 6th, 2005

While using the computer the windows calculator will open automatically and
withoutt my input.

I have run multiple virus scanners and spyware detectors and say that my
computer is free of viruses and spyware.

How do I stop this from happening.

Check these places

1]C:\Documents and Settings\[your user name]\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
2]C:\Documents and Settings\all users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
3]Use MSCONFIG to check in the system startup to see if there is
calculator there

Search the registry for all instances of "calc.exe" (guess this is the file
name) and see what link might start it.
Another thing to try is to rename calc.exe to, say, oldcalc.exe) and see
what happens.

What do you mean without your input? You are not using the computer at all and calc starts or calc starts but you are using the computer and don't know what you did to start it?

Both....when I am not using the computer (but it is left on) and when I am
using the computer, the calculator window opens without me manually starting
it.
