- Windows Download - Problem
- Posted by casera55 on April 18th, 2006
Hi
Over the easter weekend my computer has automatically updated itself with
the Windows XP updates. However this has messed up the computer (cannot save
word files and generally running slow).
I was told to use the system restore option but this was turned off. What
can I do to fix this problem??
Is there another update to correct this??
Thanks

This is a result of a bug in the MS06-015 security update. Here is the automated fix.
Go to the following website:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Click the link on line 383 (right hand side). This will download the HP's Share to web software-fix file.
Double click the downloaded file to run. This will automatically fix the problems caused by the Security Update MS06-015 as detailed in "Problems in Windows Explorer or the Windows shell after you install security update MS06-015".

Special kudos to MVP Kelly Theriot for automating this fix.
