why when I go 'start>all programs>accessories>windows explore' and click do I
come up in 'My documents'? has a pointer been messed up? if so how, how and
how do I correct it?

No that's where it should be opening to. Instead, change the
%HomeDrive%%HomePath% to something else if you want it to open elsewhere.
