- Windows Task Manager/Processes

In the 'Windows Task Manager/Processes' area I have 59 processes running. My
question is: how many should be running and which ones would you shut down
(if you had to) to free up system resources? Or does that are need to be
cleaned out to make a 'clean boot?'

My reply is at the bottom of your sent message:
You should have as many processes running as you need. This PC has a bit
more than you running right at the moment but that's because I'm über busy.
To know which ones to shut down just search a search engine for the process
name. This link here should help:

That's not an extravagant number of processes; actually it's
fairly typical.
It IS possible to get rid of some of them, but it usually is not
worth the effort on most machines.
I noticed the link someone gave to see what some of them are;
that's the best way to figure them out.
Also, many people get concerned when they see multiple
instances of svchost.exe running; that is also normal in most all
cases.
