- Windows Update hangs
- Posted by MBIEnt on April 10th, 2006
I advised my wife (I know, that was probably my first mistake) to sign
up for MSFT's new One Care service, versus renewing her Norton AV
subscription. Everything seemed to be going OK, but then she tried to
go the the MS Windows Update site (just to check things out). The site
opened and then began scanning to make sure the proper 'update
software' was installed. It never stopped scanning. Just hung there.
Has anybody else had that experience (It is now MY problem)?
Is it associated with the One Care service, or is there possibly
another virus or condition on her machine that is causing that?
I know, I can contact the One Care help desk, but I wanted to see if I
could get an unbaised answer first.
Thanks.

Hope to get you out of trouble! Well i think since you signed up for the
OneCare Service you now have to get updates from that site, not the main
Windows Update webpage. This can be a bit of hassle. If this doesnt resolve
the problem I am sorry I didnt help you and you may have to ring the help
desk!
