- windows update icon lingers
- Posted by Kent Busse on October 10th, 2005
Using Windows XP Professional: I have printed proof that OfficeXP SP3
installed SEVEN TIMES. It does NOT show up in Control Panel Add/Remove
Programs, and the "ready to install" icon persists in the system tray. I
have rebooted, turned automatic updates off, gone to Windows Update web
site--all repeated attempts repeat the complete progress bar (several minutes
WITHOUT downloading the 53 Mb again), but the "ready to install" shield icon
is still there. How do I move on beyond this point: make the icon go away
(and make sure I GOT the update)?
