XP doesn't show log in mask
Posted by Gian on March 24th, 2006

This morning I turned on the PC.
The scenario was:
At the screen in which would have appeared the log on mask there was just
the mouse pointer, that I could move but no CTRL ALT DEL available or any
mask to log in.

The action I took were:
1. restart in safe mode ->same scenario
2. Restart in safe mode with command prompt -> same scenario
3. restart with recovery console and chkdsk /p /r ->same scenario
4. tryed with steb by step KB Article 307545 -> same scenario
5. Tryed to re-install XP -> same scenario
6. Started with another HDD with XPProSP2 the old HDD is available, tryed
with a scandisk and flag repair bad sector-> same scenario

I looked around but no similar scnario found.

Has anybody any suggestions?

Need something else to analyze?

I think it is something with some service...but no idea what.
Thanks
