First time post....
On occasion my computer is slow to boot Win XP at 1 to 5 min. and when
this happens the computer does not recognize my DVD-RW (not listed as an
avalible drive in My Computer)

Is the DVD drive listed in Device Manager?

No, device manager does not list the drive.
