Avoid auto-conversion of .wmvs when syncing?
Posted by Adam on January 15th, 2006

I have a Creative Zen PMC. I have a mix of video types in my WMP library,
primarily mpeg 2 and wmvs. When the source format is an mpg, I greatly
appreciate WMP auto-converting to the appropriate format for the PMC.
However, I would like to be able to produce WMVs on my own (to have control
over cropping/sizing/quality/etc and to archive) such that WMP can simply
copy the content over (instead of a slow convert). I looked at a
post-converted .wmv and found that it was 320x240, 628k (w/ 128k audio)
using CBR encoding, so I manually produced as near as I could an identical
..wmv, but WMP still felt the need to convert the movie. Is there any way to
do this short of disabling *all* auto-conversion for both video and audio?
