The device shows up fine in Device Manager but is not recognized by the
Media Player 10 application.

I have a problem that is similar. I have sync'd my Zen PMC OK for a couple
of months, but now it doesn't get recognised at all in WinXP. Even tried on
another PC but no joy. When the USB cable is connected, the screen lights
up on the pMC but no recognistion in WinXP.
Ideas?

I have the same problem...worked ok for a couple of weeks and then was
not recognized....I tried it on a another computer, still didn't work.
I brought it back to Best Buy and got another one, after 2 weeks the
same thing happened!!!! Called Creative, they have no clue(about
anything)....any help would be great.

Any news yet on this? I see that Buy.com is selling the 20Gb one for $199
after rebate, so I'm tempted to get one.

I bit last month when they were $225 after rebate, I'm very happy with the
performance.
Finding all the accessories proved difficult, I wanted 2 Docks, one for
home, one for work, the FM tuner which is really sweet...and then 2 infrared
remotes (just because they were so damn hard to find)
It taught me that I had to be a lot more religious about my tags and folder
structure, it's done ok with moving TV and the occasional divx ripped movie
to it and watching on the treadmill. And my library has very neat and tidy
tags now after a few days of cleaning them up.
Odd items,
I just can't believe that when it's hooked in with USB to the main PC I
can't play music off it, every time MCE is up, or I type in a URL it
reconnects and stops playing, even when set to manual sync.
I'm a bit disappointed that you can't sync an MTP device to 2 PC's but
that's an MTP limit not the Zen PMC's limit.
The carry case is magnetic, yes, magnetic, to help hold it upright since
they forgot to put a kickstand on it, I dare not put the carry case in my
handbag, but more so I have to wonder the wisdom of having a magnetic carry
case on a device that's HD based..

Interesting. However, my CFO/wife put a stop to even considering it at that
bargain price, so I guess I'll have to do without for another year <g>. Oh
well, I hate to pass up such a bargain.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem. If I follow the web help link it reports error
C00D1179 but gives no detail. I also called Creative about this and they said
that they didn't know what the problem was but that they would e-mail me a
solution, but they never did.
Did you ever find out how to get this working? I'm in a bit of an odd
situation, I won my Zen PMC in a prize draw at the Windows embedded technical
seminar held in
the UK a few months ago so I can't really return the device.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Having had a problem with my Creative Zen PMC being recognised by MP10, I
did the only thing that I could think of doing and downloaded and
reinstalled Media Player 10. It worked after that, so all's good. Might be
worth trying?
