JPEG quality on PMCs

Is there any way to get jpegs onto a PMC (mine is Samsung) in a higher
quality? When I show them on a large TV they don't look good.
I have tried just dragging 200K to 500K files to the device in Explorer, but
then they don't work well in slide shows (get error messages after two or
three have shown). But if I use WMP 10 to sync them they go all the way to
320x240 (approx 30K) files.
Is there any way to have higher quality files for showing on large TVs?

I only have the Creative PMC to guide me here but I expect the Samsung is
the same :

Even if you could transfer photos without down sizing to 320x240 for the PMC
screen, the TV output appears to be limited to 320x240, and there's no way I
know to modify the hardware to scan to full PAL or NTSC resolutions of
720x486 or 720x576
