Watching DIVX on Creative Zen PMC
Posted by need4greed on October 25th, 2005

I travel a lot, and would like to get Creative Zen PMC to watch the
shows that I missed while away. I usually download the shows from BT as
opposed to recording them myself. Since most of thse files are in
AVI/DIVX format, would I be able to watch them on the PMC. And if not,
how hard is it to convert to a PMC-usable format?

Thanks

you can have media player 10 automatically convert almost any video when it
sync's down to the PMC. I sometimes will manually encode video to get
croping and resizing just right with TMPGenc Xpress 3.1 - i've made a PMC
profile so i just drop videos in and they get compressed to the spec of the
PMC.
You will find that the tv shows which aren't DVR-MS format will be tagged as
videos and thrown into My Videos rather than My TV - not the end of the
world, but not exactly great.

I'll concur,

I have FFDSHOW and a licensed copy of the Divx CODECs on my machine, and the
WMP encoder does a decent job transcoding my videos to the PMC.

A few fail, but not enough to worry me.
