Hello all,
I have 3 computers on my network. All are Windows XP, SP2 will all updates,
including Media Player 10. My son got a Zen Micro for Xmas, and it only
plays on one machine, which happens to be a rather new machine with USB 2.0.
It is also my work machine, so he can't use it.
The other two machines try to load drivers for this device, although it is a
UMWDF compatible. I noticed that the wdfmgr.exe service was not running, so
I tried to enable it. This would not work, as I get the message "Service can
not be started, no errors found"
My three PC's are networked over a standard linksys router via Windows "My
Network Places". To make this even more bizarre, I have a friend who also
has 3 PC's networked similar to mine (all updates, etc.) and his son also
experiences the same thing - it works on a newer laptop, but not the older
two desktops that only feature USB 1.1.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what may be causing this service to fail? I
can't find a thing on Google, USENET, or Yahoo, except someone experiencing
the same thing, but with no solution. Creative Labs (maker of Zen Micro) is
no help, as they see this as a Microsoft issue because the service will not
start on my PC's.
Thanks for any help or advice you may offer!
