- 3000dpi printer?

Are there any very high resolution printers available? Years ago I could
find 3000dpi in a phototypesetting machine but those seem to have
disappeared.

Were these color or black and white or greytone?

My new home printer is a Brother MFC-465CN which states it can do 6000
X 1200.

Greyscale would be nice but black and white will do.

I am somewhat unclear as to what type of output you require. Will you
be printing on paper stock or some other substrate? Do you just need
one master copy to then have it reproduced in quantity, or do you need
this printer to product large numbers or final copies?
Most inkjet printers can produce a black ink/greyscale output at up to
about 4000-6000 dpi, if necessary.
However, those numbers are usually a reference to the maximum color
resolution when all the colors head are used, to create blends of colors.
Most B&W laser printers today can print 1200 x 1200, a few may be higher
still.
What budget range were you considering?
