a3 colour printer recommendations
Posted by Cory Seligman on December 11th, 2003

hi all,

I'm looking for a reliable A3 colour printer for printing spreadsheets
etc. I'm not interested in photo printing.

it's for a small office environment.

we often print 100 or so page A3 spreadsheet documents with mostly
black text, highlighted with coloured cells.

we've been using a canon bjc 4550 which has been a disaster. the ink
dries up, and the heads clog all the time, and we dont get all that
many prints before one colour is empty and we have to chuck the
cartridge.

the thing is that we might go several months without printing any
colour at all, and then need to print a large colour document at a few
days notice. with the current printer, we end up wasting those few
days and a hundred bucks making the printer go again.

any recommendations for this type of printing? high quality printing
is not as important as high reliablity and low maintenance.

i think i'm looking at the epson stylus colour 1160 or canon i9100.

i've heard excellent things about the epson stylus 3000, but it's a
little over our price bracket. i think we're looking at around the
$1000 AUD mark, but if there are good reasons to go higher, then it
could be arranged.

thanks heaps.
