I just wondered if anyone has an Epson R300M?

If so I just wondered how you rate it? Also, I had a question about
the ink... Does the software or the printer itself tell you when any
particular ink cartridge inside needs replacing? And what is it like
cost wise replacing these carts? It has 6 of them doesn't it?

I'm hoping to do a lot of photo printing, plus printing direct onto
blank CDR, as well as black printed letters.

Finally, paper for photos, how much is it costing for the Epson? And
do you use Epson own kind is that best? Or would you use Kodak paper
or something else?

What's wrong with the LCD? Poor quality?

Are these Jet Tec ones made by Epson? Are they the same quality and do
they last as long the colours if you're printing photos?

Is the R200 cheaper to run? And will it accept Smart Media cards from
digital cameras?

I don't know anything about Jet Tech ink but EPSON photo dye ink has
excellent quality and color consistency, and its permanence is
unrivaled by any other ink except for EPSON's DuraBrite, UltraChrome
or Archival ink.

The EPSON R200 does not accept SmartMedia cards, so if you need to
print direct the R300 is an outstanding choice.

Lighfast is a high permanence ink and JetTec speak for durabrite types. My
initial feedback from users is that the 30% extra ink release chip is
appreciated as the combi units can use quite a lot of ink...

Wonder how many people who really care about the quality and
composition of their photos print directly from a memory card? I
rarely print any photo that doesn't first need some touching up and/or
cropping.

Hi John,

I have the R200 which is basically the same without features. It prints
extremely well. Very nice. Inks seem to last a fair amount of time. You
would be well served by it. I personally like the quality and printed
several images with it. Does an excellent job on Kodak paper. I see prices
around 12.00 per cartridge at CompUSA. I think they offer a discount from
their site as a new user.

The LCD size and lack of integration with the rest of the printer are my
complaints. The display might be a lot more useful when printing from a PC.
Ink cost is HIGH!

Thanks for everyones help. Just one last question though, what is the
difference between the basic R300 and R200? Is it just the smart media
card reader and thats it? From checking the specs I cant spot much
difference except in price.
