- Apple Laser Write Select, can I make it work on a PC?

Hi all.
Someone just gave me an Apple Laser Writer Select laser printer. I
was just wondering if I could make it work on my intel based system?
Is that even possible?

I'm not sure if it is an option since it is rather expensive but you could
try a program called pc-maclan. My advise would be to google for it, try it
and if you like it you can always purchase it.(or not_)

I have tried this and liked the program, just not enough to buy it and I
didn't realy need it anyway.
I have not found other software that maps appletalk/ethertalk printers to a
windows enviroment. Not even Basilisk-II (apple emulator) did the job for
me.
But if anyone has a suggestion I'm always open for it.

First of all, which LaserWriter Select is it? They made several different
versions, and one is PC compatible. The model number is on the logic board
back panel, where the connections are. I think they made Select 300, 310 and
360. I have several LW Select 360 motherboards, which would make yours PC
compatible. Yes, it's B&W.

If I remember correctly, there were a couple of LaserWriter Selects. The
lower-end models were strictly QuickDraw printers, and will only work on
Mac's.
Some later one's though, such as the LaserWriter Select 360 were actually
cross-platform and you might be able to find drivers on Apple's web site.
We're really stretching the ol' brain cells here, though

I have used these drivers to print to the Laser Writer IINTx, the
12/600 apple color laser printer, and the 360. These drivers I have

I've been checking on the net, and read that vertical lines could be
caused by a bad or dirty wire of some type, (forget what they called
it), or a bad toner cartridge. I haven't tried replacing it yet, but
have had it out. I haven't found anything about the horizontal lines
though.
I have no manual for it either, which isn't helping. I found a PDF
manual at the apple site, but it's all text, and it mostly for
installing drivers, and paper setup. It lacks any real
troubleshooting info. (no diagrams on how to clean the toner, etc)
If there is a fairly good chance a new toner cartridge would fix the
problem, I'd get one tomorrow.

Why would you have had any problem whatsoever in finding support for
this printer? Every version of Windows from '95 through XP ships with
a driver for it. It's a standard Level 2 Postscript printer.

Replace the toner cartridge.
The Select 360 doesn't have a corona wire. Replace the toner
cartridge.
Clean the toner?
