Apple LaserWriter Select 360 jam light on at startup
Posted by totoche on October 11th, 2003

Hello (and sorry for my english),

I'm posting this question because I didn't find a closely related
problem in the archives.

I recently got a paper jam on my LaserWriter Select 360 (not recent
but limited usage and perfect condition, recent toner) : I removed the
sheet.

Since then, at every startup (I switch it up once in a few days), the
printer will light the 3 lights together for a few seconds, then wait
for approximately 2 minutes with only the "paper jam" light on and
then return spontaneously back to normal init sequence, flashing the
"ready" light which then goes steady : i can then print normally.

This specific condition isn't described in the manual.
Of course this seems a minor drawback, but :

Has someone met such a symptom ?

Does someone know if there is a way to come back to a normal
initialization sequence ?

I tried changing paper setting et al with Apple LW utility : no change.

I've read here and there to remove the "formatter board"(1).
Could that be of any use ?

I also heard about the "paper sensor"(2).
May it be involved ?

Where may I find info on servicing 1 and 2 ?
(the printer docs don't seem very helpful)

What could I try ?

Thanks for any help.
