Autoprint Scheduler
Posted by rckowal@gmail.com on May 29th, 2007

I'm looking for a utility or software that can be scheduled to
regularly print a selected image let's say every 3 days. The objective
would be to keep ink from drying out & clogging the printer nozzles
due to printer inactivity.

MIS offers a freebie called "Autoprint" which works off of the
Microsoft Task Scheduler; however it requires entry/use of a password
and administrator. I'm the only one using this PC so this is an
inconvenient, unwanted & uneeded security overkill.
If anyone knows of such a scheduler, please tell me where to find it.

Best regards, Richard

Perhaps a batch (.bat) file would do it (type filename >lpt1 or
something similar, depending on whether your printer is parallel, usb,
or network and depending on whether you can find (or create) a file that
will print from 'DOS' that is suitable for your printer.

Thanks for replying Bennett.

Since posting I've learned that I probably don't need the utility
after all. Epson told me that the printer can set idle for up to a
month with out clogging. But they also recommended that the printer be
run through a "cleaning" cycle after setting idle for extended periods
like this.
