I bought a new Brother HL-6050d laser printer 6 months ago because I
had used a different Brother model and had liked it very much. The
6050d has been a pain in the a$$ for 6 months and continues to be. The
toner rubs off some papers, such as standard envelopes. Yes, I use the
"envelopes" setting. Standard paper text prints are okay.
Taking it to an authorized Brother repair shop resulted in a new fuser
and a new power supply being installed free under warranty. It is
better but still is hardly usable for envelopes. It also badly creases
envelopes unless I open the read door and reach inside and move two
pressure levers. Not hard but not convenient.
It does a decent job on text pages, and is fast enough, but other
printers put better looking print on paper.
I cannot even get to first base in my dealings with Brother factory
support so I'm resorting to posting this as a warning to others about
this model of printer.
If you really want one of these, buy mine cheap. It has 2600 pages
printed and has a brand new fuser.
No mo Bro' around here,
