canon copier; remote user interface (remote UI)
Posted by diogenes500@gmail.com on February 23rd, 2006

Hello,

This is a long shot, but maybe...

I'm trying to access a canon copier (3300i, but I don't think the exact
model is important) from my PC via canon's remote UI program installed
on the copier. As far as I can tell everything is set right (it is
networked, remote ui is "on") but when I try to access it via a web
browser I get "server is busy" page even when the copier is definately
not busy. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Can you ping it? There may be a firewall in the way, or it may require

I did ping it, everything was fine. Also, canon claims no other
software is required, the necessary software comes standard in the
printer. I went to another department and tried their similar copiers
and there was not a problem connecting to the copier via a web browser.
It must be some non-obvious setting on the printer (some other
"communications" setting, maybe appletalk ??) but I can't figure it out
for the life of me.

See if you can print out the config pages from one of the working
printers and compare it to the settings on the non-working printer.

Its funny you say that, I just tried that before reading your message.
The network settings are almost exactly the same, and the ones that are
different only seem to involve that fact that the copiers are in
different locations, etc. This is getting stranger the more I go into
it.

By the way, thanks for replying to my question, Warren, I appreciate
it.
