Not worth it. New printers are inexpensive and the technology has improved.  Get a new printer.

And do what with his old one?

Now if you mean it's not worth actually replacing the waste ink pad if
it's really full, you're probably right. However, I just reset the
counter on my eight-year-old Canon BJC-50 for maybe the fourth or fifth
time without any ill effects. Not that Canon isn't still making money
off me on this thing, mind you. They're about to pick my pocket for
another $50 for a new printhead. Seems they don't last more than about
eighteen months any more. Planned obsolescence can take many forms, it
appears. Oh well, they'll throw in a new set of ink tanks with it for
that price.

To the original poster: Google is your friend, but I'll be magnanimous
just this once:

or (got it when they first came out) and I have not problems of any
kind. So if yours only lasts 18 months you are probably using crappie ink.

Thx for help!

Reset for Canon i6500

1. turn off printer.
2. hold down resume button and press power button.
3. keep holding down power button and let resume button go.
4. press resume button twice then let both buttons go.
5. green light will flash and then stop blinking.
6. when green light is solid, press the resume button 4 times.
7. press the power button and the printer should turn off.
if not, press the power button once more.
8. your printer should now respond as normal.
