Canon S400 "service error"
Posted by Mick W on October 1st, 2007

I have a Canon S400 printer. The power light is flashing alternately
green and organge (one flash of orange). According to the manual this
is a "service error" and I should contact Canon.

Any ideas what I can do about this without the need to contact Canon
please? I think I've checked the obvious things - ink, cables, power
on/off, etc..

Thanks, but no. There are no beeps and no code that I'm aware of. I
could try the unplugging option I guess. I asked Canon and theior
reply was to take it to a service centre. However, that seems to be
miles away.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try the unplugging and reset just in case
that helps.

The "Waste error reset" procedure worked. Brilliant! Thank you.
Canon were telling me to take it to a service centre which is miles
away and almost certainly not financially viable. A few presses of
the buttons and it's fixed. In fact, I only got part way through the
procedure and it was then fine. Thanks again for your help.
