CX6600 no longer printing
Posted by charlesward_totalise_co_uk@hotmail.com on April 14th, 2008

I have a CX6600 printer which no longer prints - different printer to
the paper jam!!

When the printer originally had a problem it was about a week after I
had done a 100 x A4 sheet print run.
The printer started missing lines such that white lines appeared every
3 or 4 mm across the page - I'm only guessing but maybe it was
printing in one direction but not the other?
I did a head clean and then tried printing a page, this time 5 blobs
of ink came out near the top of the page and a single blob about 3/4
way down the page. The remainder of the page was part printed and part
not printed with large gaps of faded printing.

Anyway I followed instructions on this and other sites to Head clean
and Nozzle Check but to no avail. My recent attempt at a solution was
to put jettec cleaning fluid into 4 empty cartridges and run a head
clean and nozzle check. Since then the print function does not work at
all - printer goes through print actions but nothing appears on paper.

Other pertinent points - I am using projet replacement cartridges
which have worked perfectly well for the past year.
I print mainly black and white flyers so had the printer on "black ink
only" in the advanced settings.
The yellow cart was empty (or near empty) for quite some time but I
didn't worry as I was only using black ink.

Any ideas?

Sounds to me that you ruined your printer by using generic ink. The
solution is to buy a new Canon printer and use Canon ink only.

End of story then?

Any advice on which printer to purchase?
I print a couple of hundred b&w flyers about once a month. The rest of
the time it is just a normal home printer - the odd photo, bit of
photocopying, etc.

Hi

I can't fully see measekite post but from what I can tell he/she is
recommending you get a HP K5400. What ever you do do not buy a Canon
IP4500...to slow for your application and a crap printer with lock out
chips.

I apologize for the delay in my reply. I was out of contact with the
internet (mainly due to time constraints) for the past week and am only
now beginning to get through the hundreds of emails and news group requests.

I don't know what Jettec is or what it is supposed to do. I am very
familiar with the problems with the C and CX printers, as the inks used
a fast drying and waterproof when dry and they tend to clog rather too
often.

I have a free manual which provides some suggested methods to unclog
these heads, which is available for the asking.

DO NOT take anything the troll of this newsgroup, Measekite, has to say
as anything more than rumor or innuendo. He is the depository for all
ignorance known to man. I wouldn't let him diagnose a dead cat.
