Deskjet 5650 install
Posted by Charles Thorpe on October 22nd, 2003

When installing the drivers and software for this printer on 2 different
computers (both parallel pert connections) running W2K sp3, I get to the
message saying to connect to the printer. There is a cancel button to
terminate the setup process which is alternately enabled and disabled at
2-3 second intervals.

This is as far as it goes, sits there indefinately untill I press cancel. I
also noticed that after I get to this box, the printer no longer responds
to any button pushed andd can only be turned off by pulling the power.

I get the same happening with the drivers on the cd rom and the latest one
from HP's web site. I've also followed the instructions on HP's site and
only connected the cable to the powered on printer when prompted but this
has no effect either.

This happens on 2 different computers, but both dual boot to linux, where
the printer works fine.

TIA
