- Which duplex mono laser printer?
- Posted by David Segall on December 24th, 2003
I would like to buy a Laser Printer with a duplexer for double sided
printing. My current choice, based on previous posts in this
newsgroup, is the Brother 1850 at around US$500.00. My first priority
is trouble free paper handling followed by price. Speed and print
quality come a distant third and fourth.
Comments, suggestions and pointers to reviews are all welcome.

If you want trouble-free paper handling don't buy a Brother. Look at HP
devices - the LJ2300 comes with duplex built in and there are probably
some LJ2200, also have duplex built-in, left in some dealers.

Have had a HP2200 for over two years, and still am very happy with it. Very
trouble free, and I duplex all the time. They have been replaced with the
2300 now.

I have had a Brother 1650 duplex printer for several years now and it
has been completely trouble free.
I believe that the counter is approaching 40,000 and it has yet to
have a jam.
About the only problem is that a single page will occassionally get
thrown out of a pile when doing large runs. You then have to find out
where to reinsert it.
My HP pronters have all had unfixable paper handing problems around
15,000 prints. We still buy they, however. They have excellent
software drivers.
