I bought this beastie to print high quality photos - which it does; - if you
use the outrageously priced "Epson" cartridges.
So i bought some - "Inkrite" cartridges at 6 quid a shot.
They are SH*TE.
Are there any GOOD cheap cartridges on the market?
Can i refill my old ones? successfully?
There should be a law against the toads that charge these insane prices!

Latest which reports i read say they are looking into this. Currently ink
costs more per mm than don perignone 65.

The price of the ink supports the low printer cost. Its
simple, break even on the printer and make 1000% profit
on the consumables.
Would you rather pay $1000.00 for a printer like the
Canon s820 then get the ink carts for 75 cents apiece??
Thats the road I would pick, but all the printer makers
decided to put it the other way round.

Epson inkjet cartridges stopped printing, even though there was enough ink
for up to 38 per cent more pages, our latest printers test has found (see'
Colour printers p18).
Embedded into Epson's ink cartridges are chips that stop the cartridge
working before the ink runs out, We managed to override these chips and
print up to 38 per cent more good quality pages, even though the chips
stated that the cartridge was empty. The least amount of extra pages we
printed was 17 per cent, before the quality visibly dropped.
Epson said that customers are free to reset these chips to get more ink out,
but it will continue to use them 'to protect the customer from accidentally
damaging their printer or producing sub-standard print quality, by
unknowingly draining the ink cartridge and damaging the print head.'
Our experts think that damaging the print head is unlikely if you stop
printing promptly when you see a drop in quality.
Separately, MEP David Bowe is calling for a fairer deal for consumers and a
cut in waste. It's a serious environmental issue if 'we could reduce the
number of waste cartridges by ensuring that they are fully used, rather than
thrown away when still containing useful amounts of ink,' he said.

Epson's are popular because of the great printing that they do. All the
companies have practices in place to "safeguard" their profits. If this
extra ink keeps my printer from overheating the head that is not a problem
for me.
