Epson 900 prints only bands
Posted by Dick Flisrand on October 20th, 2003

New color cartridge just installed, new Epson T005; Now the color cartridge
light comes on: hold in for 3 seconds, lift and replace same cartridge,
close holder and the printer does a couple of minutes of stuff and the
lights go back to normal, that is, one solid green light.

Then any print, including clean pattern or test page, prints a band which is
one-half inch vertically and begins with 3/8 inch of red and then the rest
near black, which appears be a mixture of various colors.

The Windows test page prints an entire page of these bands (19 one-half inch
high band of varying length, most are three and a half inches). The Epson
clean heads test page prints three bands.

I also tried this printer on a WindowsMe PC with a parallel connection (now
I'm trying XP & USB) with identical results.

Any suggestions/hope?

TIA
Dick

imho:
- damaged head cable (white band connecting head and mainboard)
- damaged head control circuits on the printer's mainboard.
- damaged printhead

Thanks Lukasz,

I also sent a note to Epson via their E-mail support and they too were of
the opinion that it would have to go to a service center to be brought back
to life.

Is there anything to do but toss it in the garbage can?

Dick
