Epson Stylus 820 out of ink error

Epson Stylus 820 out of ink error: Posted by Boyd Pearson on July 3rd, 2003; Any one know how the Epson Stylus 820 detects ink level? I can print from
dos so I know I have ink in the cartridge but windows wont let me due to
out of ink error.
