HP 990cxi - two-sided problem
Posted by DD5 on December 29th, 2003

My printer is the HP Deskjet 990 cxi. It's great but there's one annoying
problem.

I usually print in black only, draft, two-sided and it works very well.

When I want to print something in colour, it won't print two-sided even if
that option is ticked - it just prints out one sided. That means that if I
have a long document to print which I want two-sided, I must print odds then
evens.

Does anyone know why it won't print two-sided in colour? It is also much
slower (around a minute a page) when in colour even in draft.

Thanks for any help.

It sounds like the printer "thinks" you are printing on photo paper. Photo
paper does not support duplex printing and this would also explain the long
print time as well. Try selecting "plain paper" instead of "automatic" in the
paper type selector in the driver.
