Does anyone know if these printers use the same printer unit (PU42), the bit
that you remove/shove into the printer? FS1000 takes TK17 & FS1020D takes
TK18 toner, but I've been told that maybe they have the same printer unit.
TIA.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be the case, see

and select the two printers. It appears that the TK17 and TK18 will suit both
printers but the FS1000 takes the PU42 and the 1020D uses the PU101 or 102.
This website does not simply use manufacturers advice when looking for
equivalents, it also researches compatibility between units.
It appears that the PU42 will fit the FS 1010 and FS 1050 printers.
