Laserjet 4MV hard disk
Posted by Tim Lynch on April 25th, 2007

I know it's ancient technology, but does anyone know how to tell if a
Laserjet 4MV has the optional hard disk installed? This seems to have
been a 1 or 1.3 inch device so it might be difficult to spot inside
the case.

I've no idea where on the printer it installs, or if it's possible to
use the front panel to find out if it's there.

Print a test page from the control panel. This will show if a hard disk is
installed. You can find the service manual for the 4MV online:

http://www.feedroller.com/Store/hp_manuals.php

Ther service manual will tell you how to install a hard disk in the 4MV.

Print a configuration page and it'll show whether the "PostScript Disk
Accessory" is installed.

Sound like it's just for PS font storage, which was a big deal at one
time but is probably not very useful today.

it should be a 2.5inch device since smaller hard disks are a pretty recent
thing.
