laserjet 4v : toner not fused in the center
Posted by yomgui on April 18th, 2007

Hi,

I bought this old laserjet 4v. 15 years old, only 6500 pages.

It is located in my bathroom (don't ask).
it was printing perfectly on brand new 17x11 paper

I went in holidays for 10 days. and now the toner is not fused in the
center (it is fine on the sides)

is it a paper problem ? a toner issue ? can I adjust something ?

thanks

This is a fuser problem, make sure there is nothing wrapped around the fuser.
Do this with power off and after at least 15 minutes with no power so that the
fuser has cooled down.
Open the front door, remove the cartridge. The fuser runs along the top of the
door and is held on with 5 screws, first you need to pop out the transfer
roller (the small diameter roller that runs right across) it is only clipped in.
Download the service manual from
http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download...rJet%204V.html (there are
two parts to download and extract).
If nothing is around either of the fuser rollers the fuser will need to be
changed and you will probably see a mark corresponding to the poorly fused area
on one of the rollers.
