Lexmark Z611 and problems with ink levels
Posted by doverdam@gmail.com on June 2nd, 2007

We have a Lexmark Z611 inkjet printer and just installed a new black
ink cartridge. The ink level indicator used to correctly show the ink
level as full on new cartridges, but now always shows it low and
recommends replacement. The printer is connected to a PC with Windows
Vista, and the correct driver has been loaded. We tried replacing the
cartridge with another new one, but still get the same error. Any
ideas?

sure you get the best results and use Canon OEM ink.

Try unplugging the printer USB cable first, then the printer only, wall
power-plug for about a minute. Plug both back in while both your computer
and printer are powered up and on. This should reset the printer firmware
and, hopefully, clear the error message problem.

Thanks ery much for your reply. I'm sure the Canon printer is far
superior to my simple Lexmark - I do not use it for anything except
copies/printing - It is the best printer (simplest and easiest to use)
that I have had - it is not even a year old. I guess you get what you
pay for. I have sent a request to Lexmark support. Doubt that will be
much help.

Next....

Try cleaning the printer cartridge electrical contacts, both on the
cartridge as well as the printer interface side. Use acetone, with a very
slightly dampened cotton swab (such as a Q-tip). Be very careful with the
acetone as it will craze (melt) most plastics readily.

Repeat until the cotton swabs no longer turns dark (blackish). I've used
this procedure on my Lexmark with great success to resolve many different
cartridge electrical contact-related problems.

There is no such thing as one printer being easier to use than another. They are all simple to use. In windows you just go File>>Print

They all work basically the same way.
