- OKI Color Laser C5150N - Printing On Gloss Paper
- Posted by tomoneal on June 1st, 2005
I print about 1000 prints per week using an OKI C5150N Color Laser on
100# (96gsm) Text Gloss Stock at about 75% to 80% coverage. (Heavy
graphics and photos)
The Black image drum went out after about 3500 prints (Faded images
across middle 2/3 of print). The replacement image drum lasted a
little over 1000 prints and began to fade out. (Toner cartridges were
all full.)
OKI Tech Support was not surprised. They were surprised that my Cyan,
Magenta and Yellow drums had not crapped out. They said this is common
when printing on gloss paper. The high amount of toner required
scrubbs down the surface of the drum very rapidly?
Anyone else experienced this or know what can be done. I've switched
to 32# 98 brightness text HP paper until I figure this out.
Thanks

Have you tried some of the Neuseidler (sp?) papers.
With my A3 machine I quite like Xerox's ColorTech+ 100gsm paper, which
you can get in A4 as well.
Could you print on plain paper and laminate?
