Photosmart Print Tray Use for Index Cards
Posted by UNOusenet4fniUNO@yahoo.com on June 24th, 2006

I'd like to use the HP P1000 Print Tray for 4x6" photopaper to print
onto 4x6" index cards from OTHER than the HP helper program and with
OTHER than photo images. (i.e., I'd like to print text from Word)

I need this to print invitations, name tents for meetings, and ham
radio QSL cards for mailing.

Since the Print Tray printing via the HP helper program knows the
offset to use to print photos, it includes that in its image handling.
Word and other programs are not aware of the offset.

The reason I'm researching this is that every time I try to print from
the normal tray with a small stack or a couple of index cards, the
printer skews the card during printout. Since it only seems to grip
the card on the user's right side, the angled plastic that serves to
put a bend into the paper to assist letter-size paper falling
correctly causes the card to slew to the user's left during the
printing.

Any help out there? I've tried all I know through two different P1000
and am going to the Print Tray as a last resort, giving up on using
the normal print tray that is used for letter paper.
