Problem setting up WPS54GU2 Linksys print server
Posted by Peter O. Johnson on September 18th, 2004

I'm trying to set up a wps54gu2 Linksys wireless-g print server on my
network. My net config is:

Linksys wrt54gs broadband router
Linksys wps54gu2 printserver
two wireless PCs with Linksys cards
one wired PC
WinXP home on all PCs (not SP2)
Konica Minolta 2300w laser printer
Alps MD5000P printer

I installed the printserver and configured it from the wired PC. It shows
on the network, can be pinged, and has the right lights on it. I did the
print driver setup, and it set up the printers. The printers also show in
the Bi-Admin management software. In Windows the printers look okay, with
the printserver usb and parallel ports set to the appropriate printers.

The problem is, that when I send a Windows test print to either printer,
nothing happens. The Minolta gives a balloon that says "this document
failed to print", and the queue says "error-printing". The Alps says "the
printer is not responding" with the same queue error. Neither one blinks
its data light to show incoming data.

So far I've only tried this from the wired PC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Peter
